2026 Jeep Cherokee Hybrid Specs And Fuel Economy Ratings
August 22 2025, Centennial Chrysler

We learned in May what the sixth-generation Jeep Cherokee is going to look like. But now we know a lot more, including how much fuel it'll consume, how much it's grown, how much it will tow, and why it'll be a best-in-class off-roader.
The new Cherokee, codename KM, is intended to arrive in late 2025 and will be equipped exclusively with a hybrid powertrain with four Active Drive I all-wheel-drive modes. Combined system power, between the 1.6-liter turbocharged internal combusion engine and the batter-electric component, stands at 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is expected to improve to 6.4 L/100km when official ratings arrive, which equals roughly 800 kilometres of range. You'll need to stop to, uh... visit the facilities a number of times before the Jeep needs to stop for fuel.
Most versions of the fifth-generation Cherokee were rated at a combined 9.8 L/100km – this new version will drop fuel consumption by a third.
The dramatic improvement in efficiency is particularly welcome given the fact that the 2026 Jeep Cherokee has actually grown in every direction. It's now five inches longer, 1.5 inches wider, and an inch taller than the previous Cherokee. This growth translates to a massive 30% increase in cargo capacity. The new Cherokee is also rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds, double what the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid can manage.
Off the beaten path, the Cherokee is designed to be a proper Jeep, which means it has to be able to go farther down a trail than any of its competitors. The 2026 Cherokee's 8 inches of ground clearance work together with a best-in-class 19.6-degree approach angle, a best-in-class 29.4-degree departure angle, and a best-in-class 18.8-degree breakover angle. In other words, don't let curbs get in your way.
Finally, inside the Cherokee is a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen running Uconnect 5 and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The interior is chock full of recycled materials, including the carpet and headliner.
Pricing for the 2026 Cherokee will start at $39,995, with the Cherokee Laredo at $44,995, the Cherokee Limited at $49,995, and the Cherokee Overland topping the lineup at $53,995.
